A DOT physical is a medical examination that is required by the Department of Transportation for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to ensure that they are physically and mentally fit to operate a commercial vehicle. The purpose of the DOT physical is to ensure that drivers meet certain health requirements to operate a CMV safely.
